Our History

Gamers Core was founded in November 2006 originally as the Ancient Jedi Order (AJO). We played primarily within the Star Wars universe in a game called Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (JKA). We focused on a unique style of gameplay centered around maturity, teamplay, and roleplay aspects. We also tried our best to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all of our members as well as visitors. In addition, we allowed anyone to join our clan as long as our rules were met.

As the JKA community grew smaller, we felt we needed to move into a new game. As such, several members liked the idea of relaunching the clan with a new identity. After a long series of votes, the members decided to rename the clan: Gamers Core. We tagged ourselves initially |GRSC| and later shortened it to GC|. Today, like in the past, we concentrate heavily on first-person gameplay and in science fiction themed universes. Our community is now active in Counter-Strike: Source, Grand Theft Auto 4, Guild Wars, and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2.

Clan Structure and Government

Our clan is based on a simple linear (top-down) hierarchy structure with Game Officers on top, followed by Server Admins, Unit Leaders, Members, and Recruits. Game Officers and Server Admins are the de facto leaders of the community and thus are considered the “command” staff of the clan. Our clan governs itself through a partly diplomatic system of self-government. For broader issues that leaders deem as having a clan-wide impact, we will usually put the decision up to a clan-wide vote and/or ask for feedback to help us make a better decision.

Game Officers are directly responsible for a specific game in which the clan actively participates in (usually listed on our website). These are the “go to” people if there are disputes amongst members and/or visitors that is not remedied between parties or if approval is needed for something. From there, Server Admins are the enforcers on our servers who make sure our rules are followed, players get along, and to help prevent and stop cheaters.

From there, members look up to Unit Leaders for guidance if they should need help. These leaders are in charge of community units, small groups of like-minded members concentrated in a particular game(s), and have some influence over regular members as they are considered leaders. Lastly, players become members once they have passed their initial trial week. Recruits are new players who either join volunteerly or are guided into the clan by a fellow member and usually go through a one week trial period before becoming a full member.

The purpose of our clan ranks are threefold:

(1) to easily identify and distinguish one member’s role/responsibilities from another
(2) to recognize our members for their contributions to the clan
(3) to reward them for their active time in the clan.
